In preparation for the holidays, you want to proudly showcase your home to your visitors. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the most traditional holidays celebrated in most parts of the country. You want to make a lasting effect on everyone by investing in some Italian furniture and adding some accessories that will make your home look luxurious and classy. Here are some simple tips to give your home a new image before the holiday season officially begins.
Living room
Your living room is one of the areas where guests are usually entertained. Naturally, you want it to look impressive and at the same time, make them comfortable. You can add some accessories like throw pillows and rugs to give the area a modern touch.
If you happen to have bare walls, you can do something to make them stand out. Artwork and family portraits can do the trick, though adding wall moldings can make a significant difference to your walls. Applying a fresh coat of paint to your walls is also a great idea to keep them clean looking and even hide some of the flaws.
Kitchen
The kitchen is not the usual place for your guests to hang out. However, you still need to pay attention to this part of the house in case someone would like to help out with the cooking and food preparation. You do not want to feel embarrassed, bringing them to an old and messy kitchen.
Check the condition of your sink and backsplash to see if they need deep cleaning or total replacement. You can do a DIY backsplash replacement project by buying tiles on sale at your local Home Depot store.
Make sure that your kitchen cabinets are always in top condition. Replace deteriorated parts. If replacing is not an option, you can apply a wood varnish to help restore their appearance. Painting them with light colors can make the room look refreshing. It is up to you to determine which of these two options works best for your kitchen.
Dining area
Many homeowners do not pay much attention to their dining area, especially if they seldom host parties. However, all guests should be seated comfortably at all times. No matter how good and tasty the food is, the guests will not be able to enjoy it if they are uncomfortable while eating. It would be best to invest in a long table and add cushioning to all of your chairs for everyone’s comfort. Setting up a buffet table in the corner is a very convenient way to feed everyone. No one wants to be interrupted by someone asking them to pass a particular dish to another person at the other end of the table.
Lastly, if you are accommodating some visitors for a couple of days, make sure that your guest rooms are ready. Clean everything and change the sheets and linens a few days before their scheduled arrival.
