Natural Remedies For Treating Kennel Cough

January 9, 2023

The truth is that with some assistance, your puppy’s immune system can and will develop the ability to combat kennel cough independently. While there are medicinal remedies for this condition, there is a more natural way to treat kennel cough; all you need to do is add the correct nutrients to your dog’s food. Let’s examine each of these ingredients individually and discuss their advantages.

Honey

This abundant supply of antioxidants and enzymes comes first on our list of all-natural kennel cough remedies. It is regarded as nearly a complete food because it contains protein, carbs, iron, potassium, copper, and a variety of vitamins, including vitamins C, D, and E. Honey’s antimicrobial qualities help clear your dog’s throat and reduce coughing. Honey helps dogs with kennel cough because it is rich in flavonoids, enzymes, and antioxidants. Giving your dog Manuka honey may help him feel better and reduce his symptoms. Depending on his size, you should adjust how much honey you give your dog.

Coconut Oil

Additionally, organic virgin coconut oil is unrefined and has remarkable immune-boosting qualities. Medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil have antiviral and antibacterial properties. Its well-established antiviral activities aid in neutralizing viral infections in both people and dogs. Following two teaspoons of coconut oil daily will help the cough subside. To help prevent Kennel Cough, for every 10 pounds of body weight, add 1 to 2 teaspoons of coconut oil daily to your dog’s meals. For long-term health maintenance, use half of this dosage. If there are any indications of loose stools, use a little less.

Wild Cherry Bark

Encourage it as much as possible because it can be extremely bitter. If you give it to your dog with an inflamed throat by the dose guidelines for children and mix it in a bit of water, it may help. It dries mucus, enhances expectoration, eases coughing, and opens the airways because of its astringent, sedative, antispasmodic, and bronchodilator effects. The body hydrolyzes cyanogenic glycosides in wild cherry bark into glucose, benzaldehyde, and hydrocyanic acid, also known as prussic acid.

Garlic

Adding garlic to a dog’s food can help them recover from kennel cough. Put some peeled garlic cloves in a glass container. For 24 hours, cover with a few generous lugs of organic olive oil and let it steep. Each meal should contain a few drops. Due to its potent expectorant properties, which assist in cleansing the lungs and destroying bacteria, garlic helps treat hay fever, seasonal allergies, kennel cough, and other respiratory illnesses.

Aconite

Aconite can completely stop the kennel cough if administered early. The use of aconite will assist in calming these dogs, especially in the evening, when they may appear anxious and afraid. Rumex Crispus 6C: This medication is indicated for a persistent cough with mucus and chronic symptoms. Additionally, aconite may help treat your animal’s shock, stress, fear, anxiety, restlessness, fever, or chills. Homeopathic medicines are gentle and non-toxic. They are simple to use, simple to administer to your pet, and very useful to have on hand at home for minor or urgent health issues.

Spongia Tosta

Spongia Tosta is particularly beneficial for croupy, barking coughs that tend to get better with warm food and liquids but worsen with cold drinks. A cough that awakens the dog from slumber requires using a sponge. A weak heart could also be present.

Drosera

Drosera is used to treat coughing fits and dry, hacking coughs. When Drosera is recommended, the throat feels ticklish, and pressure to the neck may cause a coughing fit. When you’re lying down, your cough can get worse. Drosera is the primary treatment for kennel cough. Therefore it should be considered if your dog has a dry, hacking cough that worsens when lying down. Kennel Cough, respiratory pneumonia, and pleurisy are all conditions that affect dogs.
