Hit It With The Right Hat

Horse racing season is here and people are all geared up for the famous and ever popular Kentucky Derby. This is the place where one does not only get to see a derby race match but also some bold and unique fashion statements by women attending the derby.

At present,Kentucky derby hats have become a tradition, and of course, it has become a fashion trend now. It all started with Queen Anne who started it in the Royal Ascot to the general people in the year 1711. She made a rule that all ladies and gentlemen were required to wear hats when the queen is present and it began from there.

When it comes to hat trends, the royal family people were the one to start them. Among them Lady Diana was the most prominent one. Then young women started wearing fashionable hats in case of special occasions to make a style statement. In derby it became a trend.

Now the question is what makes a good hat? Well, there is no hard and fast rule regarding that. In a hat, the finishing touches are very important and one needs to check whether the hat is fitting properly on the head and whether it is enhancing the look. The right hat will definitely make one look good.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a hat:

• One should always bring their outfits in order to pick the right hat. Colour matching is not really important here but the fabric and texture should coordinate with each other. If one goes for a soft and flowy dress then there should be a softer hat for it and in case of tailored outfits, there should be a proper structured hat. The size of the hat also depends on the person wearing it.
• If one has long hair, then one should wear a hat and keep the hair tied back. One can also go for a loose hair look with long hairs but in general tying it from back is the best thing to do in order to stay comfortable. If one has short hair, then there is no problem at all because then one does not have to think about the hair while wearing a hat.
• No matter how big or how wide it is, one can wear any hat when they are in a derby match. Going over the top is the proper derby style and one should follow it. There will be not a single person who will not be wearing a hat on that day and so it will never look out of the place.
• One can also go for fascinators or other head bands if they want to. But those are more suitable if one is not going to the actual venue but attending a part of derby. Fascinators look really nice and classy and one can carry a fine look there.

Wearing a hat to Kentucky derby session is a must and one should definitely follow it.
